If you are a pensioner with savings.
The best way forward from here is deflation.
The winter report from the item club sees a decade of deflation.
It will not be pretty for a lot of people.
The pensioner will receive less pension but his savings will increase in sterling terms.
Goverments love inflation they debase your savings.
TAKE say £50000 saved up 10 years ago 1998 November 30th.
On 30.11.1998 the RPI was 164.4 on 30.11.2008 the latest published figure is 216, therefore your £50000 would be worth in 1998 terms in 2008 £37962.96.
Say we got 2.5% deflation over 10 years.
The 30.11.2008 RPI of 216 would become 167.69 Therefore £50000 on 30.11.2008 would be worth be worth in 2008 terms in 2018 £64404.55
